Artel Halili Sebastian was born on July 24, 1974 in Manila, Philippines. He is currently involved with Avis Rent A Car in the Philippines where he holds the National Sales & Marketing Manager position since 2008.

A voracious web surfer, magician and a mentalist, photo enthusiast, seasonal entrepreneur, graphic artist, dj and spinner, wacky party host, small-time comedian and sometimes a counselor to his friends, peers and family.

He completed his Bachelors Degree majoring in Marketing from the Philippine School of Business Administration (Manila Campus) in the year 1995. His first work was with Philippine Wireless Inc. a company that was responsible in selling the #1 Pocketbell pagers in the circa 90's. Selling pagers during that period is like selling hot cakes for it was the most hipped and techie gadget. This helped him elevated to the corporate sales then went to the Key account sections before the technology and the company was phased out in 1998.

He then moved on and discovered new opportunity with Salem Oceanic Industries Corporation makers of the well-known and #1 Salem The Bed - Ang hari ng tibay. He was assigned to hold the Luzon Sales Group for two years giving him the vast field sales experience where he used to travel from north of Ilocos region and finding him the next day in the south of Bicol area.

After two years, his family known to be generations of salesman, offered him to join the insurance business with Philamlife, the #1 Life Insurance firm in the country where he helped as the Agency Training Officer. Here he was able to discover and learn new ways of selling and marketing certain products that is merely impossible to sell especially in the Philippine setting.

He enjoyed staying with Philamlife for 5 years. He trained agency insurance agents from licensing to product knowledge. He was able to make use of his magic skills during ice breakers and seminar breaks as his way of entertaining his students.

In 2005, he then joined the retailer king Shoemart or SM to handle direct sales for the leisure companies that operates SM Bowling and Ice Skating. Here he was fortunate to experience working with dedicated and hard-working team players, learned back the basics and modern marketing. Later in 2007, he was promoted by no other than Han T. Sy to become Direct Sales Manager in charge for institutional and school accounts for the leisure centers.

After his fruitful experience with SM, he then decided to explore opportunities outside the Philippine boundaries where he met Hussain Naqvi, CEO of MediaCom International - a known entertainment provider in the Middle East.

He was assigned to handle business operations of the PayTV group where they distribute and solicit subscription for TFC or The Filipino Channel of ABS-CBN 2 the #1 Filipino Channel overseas. Along with this task, is selling the company's premier product - DVD karaoke system which is still a phenomenal hit to Filipinos in the gulf region.

There he met fantastic people from work, amazing friends, and had an extra-ordinary experience that only a certified OFW can describe.

After his short stint in the dessert, he came back to the Philippines and joined a dynamic group of individuals that is responsible in making Avis Rent A Car the #1 car rental company and maintains market leadership for the past 37 years.

His stay in the country gave his family blessings and opportunities. They were gifted with a baby girl named Anna Dominique after a nine-long year gap from his eldest Angelo David. He and his wife Anna Maria Tolete Sebastian never thought that this will happen - but miracles do.

At present, Artel or Art known by his present colleagues maintains a blog where he can express his willingness to share good news and ideas plus entertainment all-in-one to others for he believes in the concept of "Pay it forward". Gospel for the day
Source: The Daily Gospel Online

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint John 1:1-18.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.He was in the beginning with God. All things came to be through him, and without him nothing came to be. What came to bethrough him was life, and this life was the light of the human race; the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.A man named John was sent from God.He came for testimony, to testify to the light, so that all might believe through him.He was not the light, but came to testify to the light. The true light, which enlightens everyone, was coming into the world. He was in the world, and the world came to be through him, but the world did not know him. He came to what was his own, but his own people did not accept him.But to those who did accept him he gave power to become children of God, to those who believe in his name, who were born not by natural generation nor by human choice nor by a man's decision but of God.And the Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us, and we saw his glory, the glory as of the Father's only Son, full of grace and truth.John testified to him and cried out, saying, "This was he of whom I said, 'The one who is coming after me ranks ahead of me because he existed before me.'"From his fullness we have all received, grace in place of grace, because while the law was given through Moses, grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. No one has ever seen God. The only Son, God, who is at the Father's side, has revealed him.

Word for the day
Source: Merriam Webster Online

canaille • \kuh-NYE\ • noun
*1 : rabble, riffraff
2 : proletarian

Example Sentence:
"I am not going to write for [the New York Weekly] -- like all other papers that pay one splendidly, it circulates among stupid people & the canaille." (Mark Twain, letter, June 1, 1867)

Did you know?
For a creature said to be man’s best friend, the dog doesn’t get a whole lot of respect in the English language. Something that has "gone to the dogs," for example, has gone to ruin, and the Britishism "dog’s breakfast" means a confused mess of something. The word "canaille," which debuted in English in the 17th century, shows that we have no qualms about associating dogs with the lower levels of human society; it derives via French from Italian "canaglia," and ultimately from "canis," the Latin word for "dog." "Canis," of course, is also the source of "canine," meaning "of or relating to dogs or to the family to which they belong."

What I Learned

I've learned - That you cannot make someone love you. All you can do is be someone who can be loved. The rest is up to them.
I've learned - that no matter how much I care, some people just don't care back.
I've learned - that it takes years to build up trust, and only seconds to destroy it.
I've learned - that it's not what you have in your life but who you have in your life that counts.
I've learned - that you can get by on charm for about fifteen minutes. After that, you'd better know something.
I've learned - that it's not what happens to people that's important. It's what they do about it.
I've learned - that you can do something in an instant that will give you heartache for life.
I've learned - that you should always leave loved ones with loving words. It may be the last time you see them.
I've learned - that either you control your attitude or it controls you.
I've learned - that regardless of how hot and steamy a relationship is at first, the passion fades and there had better be something else to take its place.
I've learned - that learning to forgive takes practice.
I've learned - that money is a lousy way of keeping score.
I've learned - that sometimes when I'm angry I have the right to be angry, but that doesn't give me the right to be cruel.
I've learned - that true friendship continues to grow, even over the longest distance. Same goes for true love.
I've learned - that maturity has more to do with what types of experiences you've had and what you've learned from them and less to do with how many years you've lived.
I've learned - that you should never tell a child their dreams are unlikely or outlandish. Few things are more humiliating, and what a tragedy it would be if they believed you.
I've learned - that no matter how good a friend is, they're going to hurt you every once in a while and you must forgive them for that.
I've learned - that it isn't always enough to be forgiven by others.
Sometimes you have to learn to forgive yourself.
I've learned - that no matter how bad your heart is broken the world doesn't stop for your grief.
l've learned - that just because two people argue, it doesn't mean they don't love each other and just because they don't argue, it doesn't mean they do.
I've learned - that sometimes you have to put the individual ahead of their actions.
I've learned - that you shouldn't be so eager to find out a secret. It could change your life forever.
I've learned - that no matter how you try to protect your children, they will eventually get hurt and you will hurt in the process.
I've learned - that there are many ways of falling and staying in love.
I've learned - that your life can be changed in a matter of hours by people who don't even know you.
I've learned - that even when you think you have no more to give, when a friend cries out to you, you will find the strength to help.
I've learned - that writing, as well as talking, can ease emotional pains.
I've learned - that credentials on the wall do not make you a decent human being.
I've learned - that the people you care most about in life are taken from you too soon.

Men Should Listen
A man is driving up a steep, narrow mountain road. A woman is driving down the same road. As they pass each other the woman leans out the window and yells, "PIG!!"The man immediately leans out his window and replies, "BITCH!!" They each continue on their way, and as the man rounds the next corner, he crashes into a pig in the middle of the road.

Just Like Dad
The bride, upon her engagement, went to her mother and said, "I've found a man just like father!" Her mother replied, "So what do you want from me, sympathy?"
